Hi every one just wanted to let you all know I have started a new blog its taken me so long to realise that I can make & sell my own products, & I should just go for it so thank you to my family for believing in me.

I would also like to thank Harry Harry, Felicity from Gifts of Serendipity & Thea from Thea & Sami for being such lovely blogging friends & sending me gorgeous comments to get me to just start telling every one about my venture. I hope you will follow me on my new journey.

Calico child is about me just making items from gorgeous fabrics or turning old items into something new, I some times can keep a piece of fabric for ages before I truly find its true place, Thea will tell you that she laughs at me but I will be showing that garment real soon just hope Thea loves it after the long wait hee.

I hope to see you over at Calico Childs new blog I have done a few posts just to settle in which I hope you will enjoy reading thanks again for your support with exquisite accessories it has been a learning journey for me & I feel this change will be what I need!

Yummy lunch

Kitchen

Well the house is going well I know I need to up load heaps of pictures to show you but I don't know where all the time goes at the moment, here is a view of the kitchen for you to see I will post some more soon promise!

My Mum & Dad are staying at the moment so busy with them I have just got a project under way for my dad to do will show you later!

Just wanted to show a picture of my lovely lunch mum has just made for me.

2 slices of toasted bread buttered

mushrooms

spinach

poached egg

Fry the mushrooms in a frying pan once getting brown add the required spinach keep stirring till it wilts you can add a little basmatic vinegar while its cooking if you want too.

I have a poaching pan so it can be done at the same time on the stove only takes a couple of minutes to poach.

Once you have buttered the toast just add the spinach, mushrooms & poached egg, sit down & enjoy its delicious, well I think so.

Entrance!

Well we are in the house & I kept changing the furniture around I feel like Diane Keating from "Because I said so" (one of the movies I watched on the sofa while being ill).

I am sorry I haven't been around blogging I got run down from the move I think & caught a nasty bug, it wiped me out for a week, I lived on my sofa as I was to tired to move. :(

I was glad to be in my new home though as I felt cosy with my new surroundings, I am slowly on the mend not 100% but getting better. :))

Any way I thought I would share with you my front entrance which I have a feeling I will probably change, the book case will go once I find that nice piece of furniture that's in my head & until I see it I cannot explain, you know what I mean? There has to be a nice green plant in that corner I know that!

The Venetian mask is from one of my visits to Venice, its been in a box for 2 years so I am so glad when I opened it there was no mould on it (phew).

The gold frame I got from a frame shop it was damaged so got a bargain I will fix it up, I don't know weather to do a chalk board or put a piece of glass in it?

And finale the Rocking horse is my family heirloom its an Airs horse which my Grandad brought for me & my sister when we were little kids; we called him "Dobbin" & had many adventures with him.

He must be well over 100 years old by now & I am so glad I got him restored doesn't he look dappa!!

Home Sweet Home

Well I never thought I'd see the day we would be in our new home its seemed to go on for so long with all the weather hold ups, I have been so busy with the move I haven't had a chance to do a blog or catch up with you all for such a long time so sorry!!

I am hoping to be back in the full swing of things a.s.a.p. with lots of pictures for you all to have a peek at, hope you like my front doors? I love them they bring a smile to my face every evening I get home from work, school pick up etc.

Just a sneek peek of the kitchen will show you some before, afters & a bigger view real soon, I love the glass ginger & squat jars, my supplier only has them in red or black at the moment, I hope they get them back in the clear glass as they look so nice.

Rain rain go away!!

Don't know about you but I am so over the rain! I want my house to be finished, its seems like for ever (well it is) but trying so hard not to moan!! Just a sneeky peek.

So so close; all inside is nearly done, the outside is holding us up. With all this rain we cannot get the trenches in for the septic tank & we need that up & running before we can even think about getting in.

Have been looking at fabrics this is what I am getting for my bedroom, its from Harry Harry Fabrics they have width's of 280cm on a lot of there fabrics, so no seems for my window, hope you like it as much as I do? Cannot wait to start making the curtains.

I was so honoured when Harry Harry fabrics Australia asked me to make some items to take with them for when they headed out to do a trade show in Las Vegas to launch there venture in the USA.

Well sorry for not blogging for a while, I have been busy with family life & a road trip down to Brisbane to see my Aunt & Uncle, who are doing a world cruise on Aurora. I just had to go & see them for the day with all my family, we had the best day ever!

This is the Atrium, which is one of the main areas of the ship. Here you would board to get to your cabins, the photographers to pick up your pictures, the shops, the Purser's Desk to change your currency, book your tours or listen to the pianist playing as you walk by to one of the bars. Isn't it spectacular?

One of the many bistros, there are so many places to eat, you are spoilt for choice.

Here we all are 16 of us at Mooloolaba for the day. That's as far as we could go as we didn't want my Uncle & Aunt to miss the ship; they only had 10 hours in port!

I think cruising is a great holiday, especially for familys. They have a great kids club, the entertainment is fantastic, you wake up in a different port nearly every day with out having to keep packing your suitcase, your bed is made for you and the food is amazing. Make sure you diet before hee hee!!

I miss my time on the ocean waves, it was one of the best jobs I had. I saw the world, got paid for it, & it was the best way to learn about geography!

Today is my wedding anniversary 14 years, wow that sounds so many but to be honest it seems like a few the years have just flown by, my husband Rob always makes an effort with my anniversary gift finds the meaning & try's to be different.

Well this year the traditional gift is Ivory, well he knows I would not want anything with Ivory, we both feel the same about the cruel killings of elephants just for there tusks, so my pressy this year is adopting a baby pygme Elephant from Africa the money will go to the care of this little gorgeous baby.

I am so pleased cannot wait to get the paper work through the post with my certificate, my daughter said "oohh can we go to Africa one year to see how she is doing" Oh Rob you have opened a can of worms now!!

A jewellery maker I knew, who once lived in Paddington, made this delightful piece. He has since moved to New Zealand with his business & I cannot for the life of me find his web site!!! My computer is going crazy, once I find it I will link to him.

I don't think I could wear the necklace, or could I? Ooh just imagine wearing that at the Moulin Rouge in Paris with feathers & all, oh la la!!

Happy Birthday to my gorgeous Cavoodle Bella she is 5 years old today. Oh I'm so soft but she's such a princess I just had to share her with you.

Can't miss out Siri, gosh she has grown. She is three times as big as Bella & only 1 year old. She's a Labradoodle; I love my doddle's (hee); such good family pets so loving & they don't moult which is great, no hairs any where!!

House Build!

My house build is so many weeks behind with all this crazy weather that we have been having, I have no good pictures to show, not that I am complaining, I am so lucky to even have a house with cyclone Yasi just passing to the north.

I just wanted to share with you one of the lights I ordered, that has just arrived for over the dinning table I have yet to find: so hard to find a round white table to sit six!

Well this is the day when Im just going to hold my breath and pray that Yasi stays on this path as we are to the south in Mackay. I feel so guilty thinking this as there are so many people that are going to be affected by this terrible cyclone!!

As we are in a relatively low lying area our suitcases are packed just in case we have to move to high ground because of the sea surges that can happen, just sitting tight waitting to see what mother nature throws at Queensland yet again!!

My thought are with every one that are going to be affected by this scary system!!

Baking Day!

Hope what ever you did for Australia day was a good day spent with family & friends! I thought I would do some baking & have a go at making mini meringues (never made it for some reason)?

First I did some pie cases (cheated here) they were pre made so got them from the frezzer and baked for 10 mins on 180 deg once they came out the oven & cooled I put a spoon full of lemon curd with 1 strawberry cut in half on top. Turn oven down to 90 deg ready for meringues.

Now for the meringue easier than I thought, I did have to put on the A/C though as if its raining or high humidity they can flop due to extra moister getting into the mixture (didnt want to take the chance).

I got 4 eggs & divided the whites from the yolks best to do each one over a seperate bowl, I know more washing up but you dont want to waste the eggs if any of the yolk gets into the whites you have to start over again as it just will not fluff up.

Add a pinch of salt to the whites or cream of tartar if you wish it helps stabailise the meringue.

I put my whites & salt in a blender and gradualy added 1 cup of caster sugar not to fast, not to slow then kept blending for 3 minutes untill it looked thick & glossy.

Line a baking tray with a sheet of baking paper I used a teaspoon & tablespoon to create a little mound of mixture & placed on baking sheet once created (phew). I placed in the oven wait for it 1 & 1/2 hours.

They turned out like this, Yay!! I was so pleased they didnt flop :)

Then place on top to finish off, they were so dilicious & the lemon curd was not as tarty as I thought it would taste, every one loved them (relief). I turned of the oven left a tray load (mixture makes heaps) for a couple of hours & they were really crunchy would be good crumbled up with some berries & ice-cream better not make any more for a while with all that sugar :)

Just met with the landscaper with all my ideas, (phew). Lets just hope it all comes in within the budget; (probably not) but I will keep positive about it. House Build

Well what a crazy couple of months (phew). The house has finally started to take shape; a few weeks behind due to rain (as many a Queenslander will know about that one). Not complaining as we have so needed it, but its nice to be able to have the roof on &, hopefully, covered by the end of the week. Fingers crossed!!

As I live in a cyclone area it has to be strong so the brick option was the best. What I didn't realise until I met with the bricklayer, is that the bricks get filled with concrete, so I should have a nice solid home. Will soon find out in cyclone season with 6 forecast (Oh dear)!!

I am starting to look at how I want to furnish the inside; swanky fabrics & all kind of gorgeous items, budget permitting :) Am choosing my lights at the moment I need a pendant iron one on a chain for my front porch so if any one can find me a nice black iron & glass one, it would be much appreciated.

Out & about!

Eungella

School holidays have been keeping me busy as I've been out & about with my family. We headed to Eungella which is 686 meters above sea level and has magnificent views of the Pioneer Valley. There are 22 kilometers of bush walking tracks, one of which we trekked for over 3 hours. We couldn't see the views of the valley unfortunately, as the weather was heavy with cloud in the morning when we did our walk. It was also very wet, so much for our dry season!

Eungella was named by the Aboriginals meaning 'in the clouds' which we where; so was definitely right on the naming!!! It was wet so the leeches were out (not happy). Between us we counted 100 leeches on our boots. Luckily we managed to flick them off before they latched on to our skin, well apart from my husband who got 3 sucking away on his blood. Ouch!!!

I would not be put me off from going again though as the scenery and nature wins each time. Note to self take loads of salt the leeches shrivel up & a lighter which will make them drop off)

The green of Eungella got me looking for inspiration, from walking through the national forest, & I came across . Bholu this is a great company who has a green policy. They were selected by Time magazine as one of the top 100 most influential green designers. I'm all for trying to keep our environment as clean as we can. I love the green olive colour & the simplicity of the designs.

We saw quite a few reptiles, mammals, marsupials & cattle on our days out, the turtles were happily waiting for a few crumbs to be thrown into the river. I don't know how we managed to see this tiny lizard. The platypus were so small and spent more time under water so I was very lucky to get this picture.

Possums, I know people think they are pests but they looked so cute munching away on there fruit, the restaurant we ate that evening had a little place for them to eat their tea too!

Thank goodness the cattle moved off the road I really thought we would have to wait for a while but we got by okay I felt a bit like I was on safari here only with out the African wild life!!

My animal inspiration, are so cute don't you think? These adorable toys are hand made by Indian artisans for Bholu inspired by the drawings of children. They would be gorgeous in any kid's room, mind you I wouldn't mind Marjorie duck for myself, I'm a big kid at heart!!

We got to see the partial eclipse as it was a clear night yipee! Sorry if its not a clear image as my little camera hasn't got a huge lense on it, I am quite pleased with the result though a good picture to end our time out & about. Next total Lunar Eclipse will be December 10th 2011 put it in your diary's if you don't want to miss it!

Finally this is my inspiration from the Partial Eclipse of the moon picture, well I think so hope you do too!! It's handmade with Australian felt, so each one is it's own unique creation. I cannot wait to get started on my house I can see a few of these cushions been purchased.

Ului is a category 2 cyclone; we are all ready so bring it on!! I wish I could have gone riding on my bike today as I had planned to do but alas had to get the house and garden furniture safe & secure. Sande from A Gift Wrapped life will keep thinking I have all these excuses to get out of our joint fitness regime (Sorry Sande).

La Piantata Farm house

The Farmhouse is nestled among the hills at 385 metres above sea level, just a few kilometres from the enchanting Lake of Bolsena and from the old Etruscan town of Tuscania.

As well as sleeping in the farm house you can also stay in this tree house which was built by a company called La-Cabane-perchee I want one!!!

Dreamy!

I would dream of walking through the village of Tuscia peeking in the Baroque churches taking in the architect & paintings within. Then I would sit in a nice cafe tasting an authentic Italian Pizza.

Breakfast

After all that dreaming, I am hungry so off I go to my little tree house balcony to have a traditional Italian breakfast; hot creamy cappuccino, a Brioche with maraschino cherry marmalade & some fette Biscottate.

When I went down to Brisbane I had the pleasure in meeting Thea at her studio in Capalaba. If only I had been able to stay longer as I would have loved to do one of the work shops Thea holds on screen printing. Her studio is so interesting; I had my own personal tour of how the process works, fascinating! Thea is one creative lady who is oozing inspiration. We had a good chat over a nice cup of tea. I felt like we had known each other for years.

I had ordered some of Thea's Margarite linen with which I will be making some products; but to be honest it's so gorgeous I just keep looking at it! I am going to have to be brave & cut through it!!

Also picked up one of these gorgeous dresses they are so comfy & in the tropical Queensland heat it certainly keeps me cool. Thanks again Thea & thank you for the lovely linen butterfly print T towel you gave to me; it was very kind of you.

Next time I am in Brisbane I am definitely going to sign up for the work shop & have a go at screen printing it look's like great fun! You can find Thea at the Southbank Young Designers Markets in Brisbane, if you get the chance please go see her as she has the most exquisite products.

Six weeks

Meet Siri our new puppy Labradoodle. She is 10 weeks old now and she is keeping me very busy It's like having a little baby some times (hee).

Thought I would share her with you as she is soooooo cute! I might have to make some doggy pillows now, amongst the long list of other projects I am doing, 2010 is looking busy hooray!!

Noodle & Lou have just posted about a wonderful venture called Craft Hope. They have created an etsy store that crafters can donate goods to in order to help with the huge crisis in Haiti. Hi guys so sorry I have been away for ages and not an explanation? After making all my beach bags, aprons cushion ordered loads of made in Australia & Organic homemade products, ect I hired a shopping cart in my local shopping mall to promote The Feathered Nest products I make & sorce.

Well it was very demanding this retail life of mine I stepped into, long hours, then family to look after too, something had to go & it was my blog, which I so wish I had not I hope I can entise you all back again if not I don't blame you (Hee).

I found this lovely spa in UK I so wish I could go to & re charge my batteries or even create a room for myself what do you think? I love it!! I wouldn't mind one of those pods to just laze in when given the chance!!

I wish I had bookmarked it as I forgot the name of the place (silly me)!! I feel relaxed just looking at the pictures.

Flea Market Style

I am looking forward to following 'The Flea Market Style Blog Roll'. It looks like its going to be full of inspiration. I found all the info from a talented artist called Lara at A Vintage Touch; her paintings are just divine. I recommend a viewing.

The Magazine is being released in 2010. It's in the USA, but we will be able to get all the info through the blog.

Matthew Mead & Ki Nassauer are both Co- Editors. I am sure with their extensive back grounds they will bring some great info for us to read, from their joint venture & through their own personal blogs too, which are a hive of great things.

Linda Mac Donald, who's blog is Restyled Home, will be editor-at-large.

My Gorgeous Find

I love reading about all my blogging friend's finds. Some times I am envious of the fabulous markets they go to (only an itsy bit), but I do look forward to seeing what treasures they have found.

Well I have found some thing I think is soooo gorgeous & it is proudly sitting on my desk. I have no idea how old it is, or anything else about it, but I just love my inkwell! It will be for show only; I wouldn't dare spoil it!

I wonder if it was ever used, & where it came from originally. I photo shopped the images to give them a vintage texture in line with the ink well.

I found these lovely vintage inkwells from Gilai

1.This is an antique inkwell made from heavy cut clear glass. The hinged lid and collar are made with gilt . SOLD

2.This is a19th Century brass inkwell covered with leather. SOLD

3. Pressed glass inkwell with brass top. SOLD

4. London1901 cut glass & silver inkwell $160.00

This inkwell was dedicated to HRH Edward Albert, the Prince of Wales and the son of Queen Victoria, for the occasion of his visit to Hamilton, Canada, on 19th September 1806 by The Highland Society.

The base is made of Rojo Alicante marble, the lion's feet and fittings are gilt brass.

It's sold, so I have no idea how much it went for. I thought the history was interesting; hope you did too.

This Chandelier was from the Birmingham Council building in the UK, on the main staircase of the building. Its not as grand as most but I do like it! So I got thinking about Chandelier's, they are so stylish & can make such a statement in the right room.

The first chandelier appeared in the 14th century, with designs made of wood & candle fittings, but the wax ruined the wood so it was changed for metal.

I found these two which are my favourites from Royalty Lighting.

The first picture would be nice for a porch entrance, the second one I would love to have that in the main entrance to my new house, I think I could get away with it!! My husband might be having words about that though:) as he isn't a Chandelier guy! Maybe I could sneak it in to my bathroom instead, hung over an old fashion bath! Mmmm how decadent; I can dream!!!

These two pictures are the Chandeliers at the Casino in Monte Carlo, which weigh over 140kilos each. Did you know Chandelle means Candle in French?

At the turn of the 17th Century their popularity grew & were found in homes all over northern Europe, and by the 19th century they were obviously becoming more elaborate & extravagant.

Now this grand Chandelier is from Konopiste castle in Prague, it was made by Josef Palme who received a royal permission to build a workshop in Prachen. These quickly became known as Bohemia Chandeliers.

Building Project

With much thought I have decided to share my building experience with you. My husband & I have brought half an acre near the coast in central Queensland.

This shot is from the back of the block looking south.

View from front of block. The road is a dead end, so we will have no through traffic and no houses straight in front of us, I am so excited!

Looking towards the rear of the block. The land behind has a preservation order on it so all the trees have to stay; it's going to be so private.I just have to decide on the plan's now, I keep changing my mind as there are so many gorgeous design's I love. I think I have chosen the right one now, so I'm of to see an architect friend tomorrow with all my ideas, for some advice.

Living in Tropical Queensland, there are so many considerations with the build due to the weather. The house needs to be built around those elements, such as heat, humidity, a strong constant wind during the summer and, of course, the odd cyclone!

Finch Hatton Gorge

This weekend has been good fun. I have had family staying, so its made me stop & go out on some road trips near to where I live; thought you might like to see.

This little Kookaburra was a cheeky fella. We stopped for a picnic and I was happily eating a tuna salad sandwich & he swooped down, snatching it straight out of my hand! It all happened in a flash and my heart was going, I can tell you. He delicately took it from my hand as his beak never even touched me! He must have had his eye on the prize, that's for sure.

Will be going back here in the summer to swim in the gorge with the kids. They would have gone in if I'd have let them, but the water was very cold.

Next stop Airlie Beach

This Oleander tree was full with blooms. It's so pretty, just a shame it is a poisonous tree. If the leaves are chewed it can make you very sick so best not to plant in your garden if you have small children.

I hope I have brought a bit of spring early. I am lucky the winters in North Queensland are glorious.

Bollywood Cushion

Thanks Kellie at Ada & Darcy who inspired me after she left a nice comment about my Bollywood Birthday post I wrote a couple of weeks ago. She mentioned that the fabric I had made costumes out of would make a lovely cushion.

So I got to work looking for all the fabric cut offs I have stashed away in my many baskets & luckily I had enough to make this one off exclusive cushion.

Its going to have to go on sale at my Etsy store now, if I can part with it!!!!!!

Pretty Dress

It's coming up to my little niece's 1st birthday so I have been thinking what to get her; she has so many different toys. I decided to search the net to get some inspiration, & I came across this cute little dress from Jellybeans.

I thought about buying it as it's so cute, but I remembered about some fabric which was left over from some upholstered notice boards I had made. My mind was made up, I would have a go at making it myself & when Charlotte grows out of it, it would look lovely in her bedroom on a pretty hanger on her bedroom wall.

The cute little buttons are from Francheville.

I cut out some flower shapes to add a contrast on to the fabric, using interfacing to hold it in place while sewing the sequins around the flowers, instead of using an applique stitch.

It just has to be finished off with an accessory and what better than a little head scarf. She will look so cute! Happy Birthday Charlotte!

Bollywood

After reading Rajee Sood's blog the other day it reminded me about my Bollywood birthday party. I was not blogging then, so I thought I would share it with you now. Here goes my epic, I hope you enjoy !!

All my invites, table settings & menus were custom designed by The Linen Paperie. I just had to keep them they are done so beautifully; they always come up with a unique design.

This gorgeous fabric is from a little shop in Brisbane called Rani Creations. It is from a sari I purchased. Sari's are around 9 yards in length. If you want to know how to wear a sari, have a look on Sari Safari; it has some nice info if you are interested.

I decided to have a go at making some outfits for some of my family & friends. We did have a lot of fun wearing them. We performed a bollywood-styles dance, which I choreographed as a suprise for all of my guests. Now that was really good fun! Shame we didn't video it as I could have put it on you tube. I think my performing harem girls were glad of that, as they are not quite the exhibitionist that I am; HEE!

I just love this sari. It's what I would love to own! Maybe in my dreams & if only I was 20 years younger!! If you want the real thing you can always purchase one of these gorgeous saris from a great website in India called homeindia .com. They are simply stunning. You would certainly make a statement.

These stunning jewels were kindly modelled for me by my niece Rebbeca, who looked absolutly stunning in them.

You can really stand out from the crowd with these. You can purchase them from fusion Jewels. Some of their gems are just wow!! I want to go to India, I just love the exotic colours; and Bollywood is just so happy and vivacious; maybe its the performer in me?

My garden was the spot for our exotic location. I had some of my family & my dear friend Allison to help with putting it all together. I couldn't have done it with out them; thank you guy's. What a night :) The catering was by The Spice Avenue. It was fantastic; it is the best Balti in Queensland. I am just so upset we never got a picture of the party in full swing, I was too busy parading around in my costume!

I know I was lucky to have my marquee & I loved how it was put together, but this one from Sangeeta International. is so opulant. It would be great to do up; got me thinking for my next significant birthday.

The table flowers were a wash of bright gerberas which added to the viberant bollywood colours, which I so love.

I found most of these fake flowers, to put on the drinks table, in a shop called Loot. So glad they were not real, as they are now sitting lovely in a glass vase, with hundreds of shells around them, in my family bathroom. I will always remember my best birthday ever, well they say life begins at 40!!

I wanted to give a little keep sake to my guests, so I made these little draw string bags. I embroidered the bollywood writing on them; each bag had a naturel soap inside, mine is in my bed side table making my clothes smell fresh still!!

If you didn't have the time or oppertunity to make the little bags, I found these delightful clay candel diyas from Indian gifts Portal. They are adorned with Kundan beads & filled with sparkle wax.

Apron customized

Its that time again when I get out my fabric that once had a different use & make it in to something else.

A while ago a good friend of mine had some fabric chair covers, which I took apart & I used the fabric to make some tote bags, which I featured on my blog earlier this year.

I had a piece of fabric left, so I decided to make an apron for Allison to wear in her new kitchen.

I did seams in the side panels which is okay, but the seam across the waist I didn't want to see (too many joins).

I found some satin ribbon so I decided to attach it, to hide the waist seam. I also added the ribbon to the pocket edge. It looked so nice; I decided to then use it for the neck & waist ties. Its 25mm wide which is a good width, & it keeps it all flowing beautifully.

Chaddesley Corbett

I have been checking out Julie's Hooked on Houses site again, totally addicted! Will be getting loads of inspiration for when I get to start building my house.

Anyway Julie got me thinking; it took me back to my root's & I came up with these three buildings that have different characteristics. Photo's courtesy of my Mum, thanks Mum!!

The top photo is a little cottage in the village of Chaddesley Corbett in Worcestershire; the wisteria climbing on the building is just gorgeous.

Stratford-upon-Avon

This one is from Stratford-upon-Avon, where William Shakespeare was born. It is such a quaint country cottage; it makes you want to go to the village for a cream tea.

The Crooked House

And finally there is this wonderfully shabby building. This has now been converted from a miner's cottage, to a public house. The illusion is enough to induce an unsettling effect in the stomach; either that or one too many pints of Mild (a dark English beer) have been drunk! What a building this is The Crooked House, in the Black Country in the heart of The Midlands, England. Inside the flooring is level so you don't fall over (only after a few pints).

At The Beach

Last weekend was hectic due to making loads of head dresses for the school production of Joseph, so this weekend I decided to have a few hours by myself, just to chillout & get some practise in with my new camera.

It was a lovely morning at the Whitsundays, just coming into winter aren't I lucky :)

I was going to do a bit of beach combing but you know somethings just have to be left on the beach.

My trusted friend Bellatrix had a great time & needed a bit of a rest, She slept all afternoon, we had a great time; thanks Jeanne for suggesting I get out this weekend.

Gift Set

I was asked to put together a gift for my friend's niece, Imogen. I know she believes in fairys and as she gets older the tooth fairy will be paying a visit. How we hate our kid's teeth falling out; I know, but it"s inevitable, it will happen.

I decided to make a pillow she could hang on the bottom of her bed or on the door handle of her bedroom.

A little heart pocket would be nice place for the tooth to be put, and has plenty of room for the coins to be left in, or a little gift depending on which tooth fairy is visiting.

Hooked on houses

It's Sunday morning & I thought I would have a blogging morning. The way I am going, its going to last all day; so much to live up to.

I have found some exceptional bloggers that are ooozing talent. I have so much inspiration going through my head at the moment, it's spining.

A lady called Julie has this blog Hooked on Houses. My gosh it's full of fantastic homes, I am so addicted; you have to go see. I have just brought a block of land & will be hoping to build some time this year so I will be looking all the time now for ideas.

I found Julie's blog through Kay Ellen who is a talented Interior Designer from America. The way she has captured the mood with her photographic images is stunning. You can read her blogging experience, which is featured in Artful Blogging magazine.

Sexy dress into stylish bag

My good friend Allison & Director of The Fig & Willow design group decided she didn't like this red dress anymore & asked me to make a bag out of it for her.

I could have cried as she looked stunning in it, I didn't want to hack into it, but Allison is so determined she appeared on my doorstep with dress all unpicked.

Once over the shock, I got to work deciding what style I could achieve and now it's completed I love it. I'm currently working on a mini one with the left over pieces for her daughter Romi. How cute will they look when they go out together with matching bag's!

I had been given some old denim jeans a while ago all in good condition, I love it when they have that slight worn look, I finally got chance the other day to cut them all up (as you do!!)

So I made this Pillow for my friends son who I know will love it. I monogramed his initials on the pocket so he can definitely say this is mine hand off!!

My own Son wanted to keep it so it looks like I will be kept busy.
